Beverly Brunt Obituary

Beverly A. Brunt

Ascutney, VT - Beverly A. Brunt, 88, died Sunday, September 21, 2025, at The Springs in Bozeman, Montana, with her son Jerry at her side.

Beverly was born December 25, 1936, on her family farm in Amsden, VT. The daughter of Frank and Rachel Brown, she grew up on the family farm and took an active role in helping her Dad with the daily farmwork. She belonged to the 4-H and enjoyed taking one of the farm animals or garden vegetables to display at the County Fairs. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Amsden, VT and went on to graduate from Springfield High School. After high school, she started a pen pal relationship with a friend of her cousin Chuck, who was serving in the Marines. Eventually, she and that pen pal, James "Jim" Brunt, met in person, fell in love and were married on June 13, 1956, in Elkton, MD. Bev and Jim traveled all over the world and US with their four children during their military career.

Bev was always proud to be a military spouse and mother of two military sons. Even at the end of her life while living in an assisted living facility in Bozeman, MT, she started a group for military spouses who met to share stories and experiences.

Beverly worked at a variety of jobs but really enjoyed volunteering to read to and entertain children. She especially enjoyed her time at the Weathersfield Elementary Schools while her nephews were students there.

Beverly never hesitated to help anyone who she felt needed a free meal, a bag of groceries, or maybe just a hug. She was happiest when she could give to someone else. Her greatest love was family. Her husband, her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. She remained close to her childhood friends and the many friends they made through the military.

Beverly is predeceased in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; her daughter, Pam; her brothers Robert, Ramon, and Frank, Jr., and her sister, Alice. She is survived by her sons, Jeffery J. Brunt and his wife Tamira of Newport News, VA and Jerald J. Brunt and his wife Jill of Bozeman, MT; a daughter, Paula J. Bento and her husband Bruce, of Wappingers Falls, NY; sisters, Betty Brown and her partner Kib Bibbens, Norma Magoon and her husband Jim, and Linda Clough and her husband Dale; and her brothers Richard Brown and Randy Brown and his wife Laurie, 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and the importance of humor and being able to laugh just to make people happy.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT with a reception to follow. A chapel service will take place at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT at 11am the following day, Wednesday, June 24.
