Charles Henry Austin, Jr.

Richmond, KY — Charles "Charlie, also known as Sonny" Henry Austin, Jr., age 78, passed away Wednesday October 27, 2021, at Baptist Health in Richmond, KY. He was born January 15, 1943, in Claremont, N.H. to the late Charles Henry Austin, Sr. and Doris Wright. Charles was a man of humor and enjoyed fun times. He was kindhearted, had a loving nature, faithful, a family man, and of few words unless asked. Charles loved his family and his country deeply. He loved hunting, was a member of the N.R.A., and the Newport, N.H. Moose Lodge. Charles was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by one sister Virginia Porter, grandmother, Abbey Wright, and Uncle Ralph Wright who raised him.

Charles is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy L. Austin of Richmond, KY, four children, Tammy Morrison of Claremont, N.H., Shawn Austin and his wife Wendy of Charlestown, N.H., Jean Minckler of Claremont, N.H., Timothy Austin and his fiancé Lauren Hunt of Richmond, KY, six grandchildren David Austin, Jessica Morrison, Corey Austin, Jamie Jackman and her husband Chris, Alex Austin, Victoria Austin, and six great grandchildren, Hunter, Talon, Louis, Allie, Owen, and Maverick. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be 3:00PM October 31, 2021, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Livingood officiating. You may view the service live from the funeral home website www.davisandpowellfuneralhome.com Visitation will be 12:00PM – 3:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow later in the East Lempster Cemetery in East Lempster, NH.

At the request of the family, facial coverings and social distancing will be required by all in attendance.
