Charles Edward Wells
White River Junction, VT - Charles Edward Wells, 89, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at home in White River Jct.
He was born July 17, 1936, in Springfield, VT a son of Franklin Jenkins and Pauline Thelma (Holden) Wells. Chuck spent his early years in Rutland, VT before his family moved to West Lebanon, NH when he was in high school. He graduated from West Lebanon High School class of 1954 before serving in the US Army. After his honorable discharge from the army, Chuck began working at Fitts Photo in West Lebanon and later moved to Leominster, MA where he continued with the company. Chuck transferred the management skills he learned at Fitts to the fast-food industry and served as area supervisor for several chains in the Central Mass area including Wendy's and Burger Chef. In 1989, he returned to the Upper Valley and worked as medical currier until retiring. After moving back to the Upper Valley, he met Lorinda Severance, they were married in 1996 and have lived in White River Jct. since.
Chuck was an avid New England sports fan and especially enjoyed the Patriots and both men's and women's UConn basketball. He also enjoyed word puzzles and browsing the internet on his computer. He was a member of the Lebanon American Legion Post 22, as well as the White River Junction VFW Post 2571.
He is survived by his wife, Lorinda, of White River Jct.; sons Charles Wells (Lisa) of Killingly, CT, Scott Wells (Michele) of Canterbury, CT, Vicky Stevens (Harold) of Norwich, CT and Robert Wells of Killingly, CT; step children, Donald Severance, Jr, Allen Severance (Dora), Panda Severance (Tammy), Tracy Taylor (Chuck) and Jenny Severance (Sean Kuit); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers Chester Wells of Binghamton, NY, Frank Wells of Madison, PA and Paul Wells of Rutland, VT and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, with a time for visitation to follow until 5pm. A service for full military honors will take place at 11am on Thursday, November 20 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
