Elton Brinker Obituary

Elton Brinker

Newbury, VT - Elton Hunter Brinker, 69, died unexpectedly at his home earlier this year, February 1, 2025.

Born in Jacksonville FL, he was the son of Love Snow Brinker of Florida and Carroll Stanley Brinker, Sr. of Pennsylvania. The family lived in many different places on the East Coast. He attended Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH and graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA in 1975. He married his high school sweetheart, and they settled in Plainfield, NH. Elton and Sarah welcomed their only child in 1976. They divorced a few years later. In 1983, he married Ms. Lisa Hemmerling of NY, but they divorced the following year.

He worked as a stationary engineer for more than two decades at Dartmouth College's Hanover Heating Plant. Later, he earned his CDL and delivered fuel. More recently, he was a public school and private camp bus driver.

He lived in Newbury for more than three decades and was happy to call it home. For a few years, he was a Member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Vermont, Pulaski Masonic Lodge #58, Wells River, VT. On occasion, he attended the Congregational Church in West Newbury. He was a cancer survivor. He is remembered as being friendly, gentle, kind, loving, honest, hardworking, and independent.

He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Kulis, who resides in the Washington, DC area, son-in-law Zachary, and grandchildren Kathryn and Maxwell, as well as: sister Florence Powell of Chattanooga, TN, nephew Abraham Powell, and niece Ruth Powell; sister Susan Smith also of Chattanooga, and nieces Nicole Frazier, Penny Warner, and Leah Andelsmith; and, nephew Zachary Brinker of Bath, NH. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and brother, Stan Brinker of Bath, NH and Truro, MA, and his nephew Nicholas Brinker also of Bath.

A celebration of his life will be held this summer in Bath, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at DHMC (603-653-0700 and https://dhmcalumdev.hitchcock.org/giving/cancer-care-support)

Drove bus for many years with Elton before his bout with cancer and he drove for the Aloha Foundation summer camps for many years.
He was always ready to help and ever the gentleman.

I knew Elton in the 1980/1990's. He was such a sweet man with an excellent sense of humor. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

I met Elton when he was driving for Aloha Camp in Fairlee. We continued our friendship when he went on to drive bus. He had an infectious smile and was a light to many people who loved him, especially the children. I remember when his first grandchild was born and he excitedly came to my place of work to tell me. He will be missed by all who knew him and I will miss talking for hours with him on the phone. Rest in peace dear friend!
