Ernest C. Winslow
Norwich, VT - NORWICH, VT-Dr. Ernest C. Winslow, 97, of 80 Willey Hill Road, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 11, 1928 in Corinth, NY, he was the son of the late Ernest G. and Eva (Goodnow) Winslow.
Dr. Winslow graduated from Corinth High School in 1945, Union College in 1950, and University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in 1954.
He served his country in the United States Army at Brooklyn Army terminal from 1955 to 1957 as a Captain. He treated many fellow veterans of the Korean Conflict while in service there.
He went on to practice dentistry in Corinth, Saratoga, Lake Luzerne, Malone and Champlain, NY. He then went to work for the NY State Corrections Department as a dentist at the Altona Facility in Upstate, NY for eleven years before retiring.
Dr. Winslow was a member of the Corinth First United Methodist Church. He married Shirley G. Cady on July 24, 1949 in Corinth, where they first resided. They then lived in Malone, NY, Champlain, NY, and Melbourne, FL.
He was a multi-sport athlete playing soccer, basketball, and baseball and was an avid golfer and hunter.
Ernest was involved in harness racing, owning several horses that raced at Saratoga. He owned and operated several businesses in New York including three ski areas. He also was a pilot, having earned his instrument rating and he owned his own small plane.
Survivors include three children, Lee N. Winslow (Jan) of Norwich, Vt., Jeffrey N. Winslow (Colleen) of Corinth, NY and Lynn A. Howard (Roy) of Rouses Point, NY; seven grandchildren, Cady, Stephen, Christopher, Randy, Danielle, Michael and Jamie; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025 at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth with Lane Schermerhorn, officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Rural Cemetery, Corinth. Friends may call from Noon until 1 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service.
