Janice Nadeau Obituary

Janice A. Nadeau

Quechee, VT - Janice A. Nadeau, 87, died Friday, August 29, 2025, at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH.

She was born July 25, 1938, a daughter of Philo and Vivian (White) Withington. Janice grew up on the Green Acres Farm in North Hartland where her family has been farming for several generations. She graduated from Hartford High School in 1956 and immediately went to work at Green Mt. Studios in White River Jct., where she worked for the next ten years.

Janice married Gerard Nadeau in 1959; they lived in Quechee for many years, where they raised their family until the couple was divorced in 1980. She later met George W. Cobb and the two were companions for nearly 30 years.

Janice was an avid horse lover all her life. She boarded horses at her farm for many years, as well as hosting 4-H horse shows at the farm. She and her daughter also showed horses around New England and were active in the Green Mountain Horse Association. She and George gave hay/sleigh rides with their horses around the Upper Valley including at Riverview Farms in Plainfield, NH for over 25 years until his death in 2007. After his death, Janice continued with her friend and neighbor, Jean Adams. The couple also used the horse wagon to pull the Upper Valley Band in parades.

Janice was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Shumway; brothers, Merle (Sam) and Richard Withington and a daughter-in-law, Dawna Nadeau.

She leaves her daughter, Linda Temple (Patrick) of North Hartland; son, Peter Nadeau of Sharon; grandchildren, Trever Nadeau, Troy Nadeau (Alison), and Zachary Temple (Stephanie); great grandchildren, Paisley, Levi, and Liam as well as many nieces and nephews.
