Kathy Reed Obituary

Kathy Rose Reed

Canaan , NH — Kathy Rose Reed, 69, of Canaan NH passed away peacefully at home on April 17th, 2021 surrounded by love.

Kathy was born October 12th, 1951 to John and Verna (Smith) Tallman. She grew up in Etna and went on to graduate from Hanover High School in 1970.

Kathy's greatest joys in life were raising her children and watching all her grand and great-grand babies grow. She was a fiercely dedicated and tenacious mother, raising four equally tenacious children and countless others. Kathy was referred to as "Mom" by many local kids over the past 45 years. Mom was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Our family would not be where it is today if we did not have Kathy as a mom. Our mother was one of the strongest women to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as head of our family.

Kathy loved photography, documenting local events, and sharing her talent with others. Kathy was employed at the MVRHS district for 36 years and loved all of "her" kids, especially Joe. She was well liked and loved by all her students. Kathy initiated the weekend backpack program at MVRHS, so that no child would be hungry.

Kathy was a firecracker. She was a most selfless and generous person, always putting others before herself. Kathy enjoyed watching her son Toby and other local favorites on the dirt track for as long as we can remember. She loved cheering her grandson Tyler and many others on at all sporting events. Catching these moments on camera was her specialty. Kathy loved wildlife, reading, and flowers.

Kathy was preceded in passing by both parents; her husband Ronald Reed; sisters Gloria Tallman and Margo Collins; and son-in-law Jarrett Hawthorne. She is survived by sisters Carol (Donald) Cote of Grantham & Janice "Minnie" Loring of Enfield; brother John (Sheryl) Tallman of Etna; Children Ann Lyons, Connie Smith, Toby (Jen) Stark all of Canaan and Britny (Chris) Morrill Anderson of Newport; Grandchildren Devin (Jerry) Hawthorne White of NC, Jarrett Hawthorne (Tricia) of Lebanon, Tyler and Dylan Stark of Canaan, great grandchildren Haven and Harlyn White of NC, Jaxon Hawthorne & Ryleigh of Lebanon; extended family Tammy (Robin) Longley, Tina (John) Evans, Nicholas and Richard Longley, and Ashley Ovitt all of Canaan.

Mom has asked for her life and legacy to be celebrated with a cookout, which will be held at 741 Jerusalem Road in Canaan NH on Thursday April 22, 2021 at 6pm. Please drop by with a dish and wear your favorite tie dye clothing. To all motorcycle enthusiasts, we ask you drop a gear in Kathy's name on your next ride. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the "Kathy Reed Memorial Scholarship Fund." Checks can be made out to Ann Lyons, PO BOX 257 Enfield NH 03748.
