Nathaniel Hemenway

Strafford, VT - Nathaniel Hemenway (Nat) died on May 30, 2025, at Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT, after a lengthy illness.

Nat was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1951. He grew up in Canton, Massachusetts and was a long-time resident of Strafford, VT and Hanover, NH.

Nat graduated from the Noble and Greenough School in 1970 and played on the wrestling team.

Nat also received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and a Master of Fine Arts from Norwich University. He enjoyed photography and appreciated nature. Nat faced many challenges in his life and found support through his recovery programs.

Nat is predeceased by his beloved parents, John T. Hemenway and Phoebe (McCreary) Hemenway.

Nat is also survived by his sisters, Phoebe H. Armstrong (Robert) of Vero Beach, Florida, Lucy L. Hemenway, of Strafford Vermont, and his brother, John F. Hemenway of Boston. Nat also leaves two nephews, Matthew T. Healy of Norwell, MA and Samuel W. Healy of Detroit, MI.

A burial service will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge in September.

Gifts in Nat's memory may be made to the New England Forestry Foundation, 32 Foster Street, Littleton, MA 01460.

Dear Phoebe, Lucy and John.
My sincere condolences to you and your extended Family members.
My memory of Nat was from years ago and I always remember him being kind and cordial to me while I was visiting Mrs Hemenway.
Nat..... may you now rest in sweet eternal peace!
