Pamela Bean Obituary

Pamela Barrett Bean

Lebanon, NH - Pamela Bean, 83, passed November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of the family she cherished above all else.

Pamela was born in Rutland, VT on April 25, 1942, to Charles and Laura Barrett. Pamela was the devoted wife of the late Linwood "Skip" Bean, with whom she shared a lifelong partnership built on warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

More than anything, Pam loved her family. She was fortunate to have both her immediate and extended family in the Upper Valley and visited or spoke with at least one member every day. Pamela was the loving mother of Patti, Kathy, and Mark, and the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren called her "Gogo", and she shared her love of all things Disney with them. Gogo embraced each grandchild and great-grandchild with a joyful heart, creating a lifetime of treasured memories. Among the most magical for her grandchildren were the moments gathered around her famous magic cupboard, where-with the saying of special "magic words"-gifts and treats appeared as if delivered by a playful magic fairy. These simple, enchanting acts became part of her family's story and a symbol of her boundless love.

Pamela also devoted her life to public service and to the community she cared for deeply. She served on the Lebanon City Council and later as the Mayor of Lebanon, leading with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to her neighbors. She went on to represent her community in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, where she served for many years, rising to the position of Assistant Majority Whip. Her leadership, voice, and dedication left a lasting impact on all who worked with her.

Even after her political career, Pamela continued to serve, volunteering at the Ward 3 polls on election nights. She loved the energy and drama of presidential elections and delighted in greeting friends-both old and new-as they came to vote. Public service wasn't just part of her life; it was woven into who she was.

Pamela will be remembered for her kindness, her deep love for her family, and her decades of service to her community. Her legacy lives on in the people she helped, the policies she shaped, and the countless moments of magic she created for the generations who follow her.

Pamela leaves her three children, Patti Dodds (John), Kathy Bean, and Mark Bean (Mary); six grandchildren, Chelsea Williamson (Warren), Cody Dodds (Brittany), Emily Woods (Max), Michael Yukica (Nicole), Aiden Bean, and Jared Audett; nine great-grandchildren, Charlie Williamson, Cody Williamson, Wyatt Williamson, Wren Williamson, Ben Woods, Rory Woods, Jinny Woods, Riley Dodds, and Jack Dodds; siblings, Pat Pollard, Laurie Rogers, and Chris Barrett; and many great-nieces and -nephews whom she adored. She was predeceased by her youngest sister, Melissa Dodds, 10 days prior.

Pam's family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Harvest Hill for their exceptional care over the past two years, but especially during the last days of her life. It was clear that they loved her a great deal through the gentle, dignified, and thoughtful care that they provided. We will be forever thankful.

Her family invites all who loved her to hold her close in their hearts and to honor her memory by cherishing their communities-and the small everyday joys-as she always did.

A celebration of Pamela's life will be held privately later this winter.
