Theodore Wilson Obituary

Theodore Eugene Wilson

South Royalton, VT — Theodore Eugene "Ted" Wilson, 86, passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2022 at his home in South Royalton, VT. He had been declining in health for several years, but was able to be at home because of the devoted and loving care from his wife of 66 years, Marlene.

Ted was born on April 19th, 1935. Son of Eugene and Elizabeth Wilson, he was raised in Sharon, attended Sharon Elementary School, was an outstanding baseball player at South Royalton High School, graduating in 1953.

Ted and Marlene Coffin were married on May 6th, 1955 in Bethel, VT.

As a young man Ted worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator, specializing as a grader operator. Some of the projects he was a part of included the building of I-91 and I-89. During the winter months, Ted had a firewood business. Cutting, splitting, and delivering hundreds of cords to the appreciative customers throughout the Upper Valley. In 1991, Ted started working for the Town of Sharon Highway Department, retiring in the Fall of 2011 at the age of 76.

Ted was predeceased by siblings Paul Barrett of Sharon, VT and Mary Jean Eaton of Sunnyvale, CA. He is survived by his brother John Wilson (Snow) of Alpharetta, GA; his wife Marlene of South Royalton, VT; his children Cynthia Jones (Brian) of South Royalton, VT, Randolph Wilson (Deborah) of Walden, VT, Sharon Wilson of Barnet, VT, Shane Wilson (Fern) of Catawba, NC; his grandchildren Thorin Markison of East Montpelier, VT, Besty Markison of Danville, VT, Tyler Jones (Holly) of Harrisburg, NC, Morgan Nida (Andrew) of Reidsville, NC; his great grandchildren Madelyn, Lyla and Riley Jones of Harrisburg, NC.

Ted's final comment on this Earth was "I'm going to get up on my pony and ride out of here!" Happy trails to you, Theodore Eugene Wilson.

Per his request there will be no funeral. A private family celebration of his life will happen this summer.
