Eileen Ann Eckert

1936 - 2016

Eckert, Eileen Ann (Rivard) Of New Baltimore; passed away peacefully, surrounded by her five children on June 23, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Mount Clemens. She was born on July 1, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Layton and Celestine Rivard and attended St. Mary’s of Redford High School. She received her undergraduate nursing degree from Mercy College and later received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from University of Detroit. She worked for several years for St. Joseph Hospital in Mount Clemens and later retired from the Macomb County Health Department. She married Kurt Eckert on November 22, 1958. He predeceased her in 1985. Eileen loved camping, travelling and enjoying time with friends and family. Her gift of quick wit and humor was legendary and remained with her for her entire life. She is survived by her five children, Edward (Erin) of Fort Worth, Texas, Thomas of Westland, MI, Robert of Easthampton, MA, Michael (Deborah) of Hartland, MI, Kathleen Eckenrode (David) of Fair Haven, MI; granddaughter, Abigail of Hartland, MI; brothers, Lacel (Jean) Rivard of Romeoville, IL and Thomas Rivard of Waterford, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews.
