Apple Valley - Cecil Alvin Stevens, 88, of Apple Valley, California, died February 5, 2021, Desert Valley Hospital, Victorville, California.
He was born on May 8, 1932, to Charles W. Stevens and Wilma L. Stevens in Dill City, Oklahoma.
Cecil was selected for military service in 1951 during the Korean War, where he attained the rank of sergeant. After completing his service to his country, Cecil resumed his formal education, graduating from San Bernardino Valley College. He went on to earn his baccalaureate degree from San Diego State University. He was versed in the law and obtained his real estate license.
Cecil was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 84 from 1979 until present. He was also a member of the Al Malaikah and Apple Valley Shrine Clubs as well as a member of the Scottish Rite and Freemasons. He became Illustrious Potentate in the Al Malaikah Shrine club in early 1996.
Cecil worked for Standard Oil Co. of California and ran two stations on the freeway by Stoddard Wells Road for Chevron, Standard Oil. He was the owner/operator of the historic Summit Inn and Summit Inn Services on Route 66 at the top of the Cajon Pass from 1966 to 2016, when he retired and sold the property.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Debbie Stevens, parents Charles and Wilma Stevens, brothers Calvin W. Stevens, Charles J. Stevens Jr. and son Mark Stevens. Mr. Stevens is survived by his sister Juanita Stevenson, daughters Lori Schoffstall, Marjorie Morgan, Vicki Stevens and son Wade Stevens. His grandchildren Glen Eversole, Whitney Stevens, Stephanie Morgan, Jordan Stevens, Kelly Schoffstall, Neil Schoffstall, Cecil Stevens Schoffstall and Courtney Stevens. Great grandchildren Kassandra Eversole, Brody Eversole, Carlene Lambert, Wyatt Lambert and Shane Coté.
The Celebration of life will be held at Church of the Valley, located at 20700 Standing Rock Ave. in Apple Valley, Ca., with services starting at 11:00 a.m. on June 19, 2021.
