Adam Garrett Obituary

Garrett, Adam Lynn

Aug 16, 1981 - Jan 22, 2025

Adam Garrett, 43, of Hallsburg, TX passed away on January 22, 2025, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco. A memorial service will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Duane Hoxworth and Pastor Billy Burchfield officiating. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation period.

Adam spent most of his life in the Information Technology field. After graduating from Riesel High School, he attended McLennan Community College and Texas State Technical College. He loved his music and was especially talented with his guitars. Another hobby he took up later in life was a love for fly fishing. Adam made trips to Estes Park, Colorado and Red River, New Mexico fly fishing with his family. He was a member of the Waco Fly Fishing Club. Probably his greatest love was visiting with his many friends and family. To his niece and nephew, Annabelle and Austin, he was effectually known as "Uncle Moose".

Adam made the wisest choice of his life the week before he died. Not only did his choice have the best of outcomes, but it was a choice with eternal value. Adam chose to give his life to Jesus Christ. Adam prayed the prayer of salvation asking Jesus to come into his life, proclaiming that Jesus died and rose for him, therefore ensuring Adam's presence today in heaven with Jesus forever.

Adam was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, K.O. and Alma Layton; paternal grandfather, Marvin Garrett; aunt, Linda Layton Kokel; and uncle, Jerry Layton.

Survivors include his parents, Ritchie and Deborah Garrett; sister, Kelli Garrett Roper and her husband, Chris; niece and nephew, Annabelle and Austin Roper; paternal grandmother, Ruby Garrett; uncle, Dennis Garrett and his wife, Janet; and aunt, Martha Hill of Boise, Idaho.

Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Pavelka, Richard Abernathy, Josh Lueck, Jon Huddleston, Ronald Steinke, James Garrett, Chris Roper, and Austin Roper.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff and employees at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco for providing excellent care during such a difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Williams Creek Baptist Church, PO Box 377 Axtell, TX 76624
