Charles Ling Obituary

Charles Wayne Ling, 70, of Waco, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Chilton Cemetery with Pastor David Cozart officiating. The family will receive visitors 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr.

Charles was born Oct. 17, 1941, in Marlin, to Edward and Annie Ling. He was a professional baseball player for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1960 to 1961. Charles enjoyed fishing, collecting records, and baseball cards. He loved spending time with his family, especially at his grandchildren's sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sons, Neil Ling and wife, Colleen, of Hewitt, and Marcus Ling and wife, Alecia, of Spicewood; grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, Hunter, Brooks, and Gage; and brothers Larry Ling of San Antonio, and Robert Ling of Georgia.

His sons would like to thank their mother, Emily King, for her loving care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
