David Bauer Obituary

David Alan Bauer

March 26, 1955 - Jan. 3, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of David Alan Bauer on January 3, 2021, in Waco, Texas. Following CDC guidelines, a private service will be held in his honor.

David was born on March 26, 1955. He was the son of Simone and Jake Bauer of Waco. He attended Waco High School where he played the drums in the high school band. He went on to graduate from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where his love of football led him to help manage the football team.

As a child David learned the meat business working alongside his grandparents, Marthe and Henry Heyman, and parents, Simone and Jake. After graduation he returned to Waco excited to put his stamp on the family business, H&B Packing Company. He worked there for several years until fulfilling his dream of opening his own business, Waco Custom Meats, and recently, Waco Custom Marketplace, with his sons.

He was a loving husband to his wife, Martha, and devoted father to his sons, Brady and Brian. His granddaughter, Baylor, would lovingly call him "Davo," his love for her was infectious. He was the quintessential "family man" rarely seen without his wife, Martha, by his side, a girl he met in West, Texas, on the dance floor, and quickly swept her off her feet. They were married a short time after and had two sons, Brady and Brian, whom he adored. He raised his sons to be good men and taught them to put family first. He always cherished his time with them and often spoke about how proud he was of them both. David would reminisce about fishing with Brady and watching Brian play Little League and Select baseball. He even was the matchmaker for his son, Brian, by saying "I think you should go out with that neighbor girl, Presley!" and today they are engaged and looking forward to marriage.

We cannot forget the awesome son-in-law he was to his in-laws, Shirley and Russell Willsey. Their countless trips together to Shreveport where he would watch as Martha and Shirley played the slots in hopes of hitting the "big one"!!

Martha and David built an extraordinary life together. Their love for travel took them many places. There were countless trips in their RV and too many cruises to remember them all! They were "two peas in a pod" and a shining example of commitment, love and loyalty.

David was always willing to lend a hand and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. A commitment to his family, his faith, his community and let's not forget his "Baylor Bears." Those are all things we will miss, but he will live in our hearts and memories forever.

David is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Brad and daughter, Baylor; son, Brian and fiancé, Presley; brother, Rick and wife, Melanie; brother, Benjy and wife, Betty; and sister, Rana and husband, Jim.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Rodef Shalom of Waco, Texas.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our "Tribute Wall" at www.WHBfamily.com.
