I will never forget the "special" attention Donnie gave my son when he wanted to be a left-handed catcher. He worked so hard with him and I appreciated it so much. He was a great coach and friend of mine. My prayers and blessings to Brenda and the girls.

I was so sorry to hear about Donnie--both the information concerning his ALS and then of his untimely death. Donnie and I played baseball together at Northern in 1964 both for the Optimist Club and the All-Stars. I'd often catch a ride to practice with Coach Snider and Donnie since I lived on 11th and they were on 13th. Absolutely one of the best years of my life. Thanks, Donnie for being a big part of those memories.

We are so sorry for your loss and wish we could be there to hug your neck. We came to know Donnie thru David and Sandi Brown. Their son Chad married LeAnn. Though we knew him for a short time he will be missed greatly.

Brenda,
I am so sorry for your loss. The following is a message Alton Ballard sent me when my father passed away.
"Just remember he is not gone. He lives on in your heart. He will help you overcome the physical loss, and will guide you through until you are together again."

Donnie was an extreme inspiration to my son, not only with his knowledge for baseball but his strong will to keep going no matter how bad he felt. Tyler loved and admired "Coach Donnie" and will always remember him. Our whole family became very attached to him over the last several years and we all know he will be coaching the angels in heaven!!

Sympathies to all the family. I live in upstate NY and I am also an alpha1 anti-trysin patient, age 52 with lung disease. I know what he went through and I am so sorry that we had to be born with both ZZ from our parents, a rare disease that takes you well before your time. I am so sorry for the family. My time will also be coming.

Your family is in my prayers. The picture shown illustrates the incredible smile that I remember from church gatherings on Sunday mornings and on the softball field.
Our blessing is his legacy and knowing he is at peace now.
Warm regards,

My deepest sympathies to Brenda and all of Donnie's family. He was the first to say 'let's go' when a reunion trip by our Little League team to Williamsport, PA was mentioned last year. We met again a few weeks ago in Waco. Again, he was the first to send an email saying 'let's do it'. And, Donnie mentioned that he knew where we could find some good chicken fried steaks (an inside joke to our teammates). His physical problems would be challenge to anyone, but I doubt there are but a few people who could confront life with an smile the way in which Donnie did. I will always admire his courage and dignity.
My God's peace and the promise of everlasting life through our Lord Jesus Christ comfort Donnie's family as he moves into the presence of our Lord.
Thanks for the memories, Donnie. (And especially thank you for having the only hit, a home run, in the State Championship Game. We would have been also rans without you.)

Donnie was such an inspiration in my life. I can remember being young and going over to his house, spending the night and always having a good time. He is such a fighter and because of that I am so proud to say his is my uncle. I know that Donnie is in a much better place now and I am happy for that. I know we will meet again!

While I wasn't a close friend of Donnie's and haven't seen him for many years, we have been friends since that first game of the Northern All Stars when we (Southern) lost to them. I thought highly of Donnie and will miss him. My deepest sympathies to the family he leaves behind.
