Glenise Cohrt Obituary

Glenise Cohrt

Dec. 19, 1957 - Jan. 26, 2021

Glenise June Cohrt, 63, of Waco, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday. January 30, at Rosemound Cemetery located at 3201 S 12th St Waco, TX 76706. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 29, at Lakeshore Funeral Home.

Due to the current COVID-19 mandates, limit capacities will be available.

Glenise was born on December 19, 1957, to Floyd Thomas and June Annette Holland (Player). She graduated from LaVega High School in 1976. Glenise married Richard "Dutch" Cohrt on July 15, 1980, and they had one child, their daughter Erin. Glenise served 30 years at the VA Regional Office where she always put the Veterans and their needs first and made relationships to last a lifetime.

Glenise was a devout Christian. She always offered prayers to anyone in need. She started her days and ended her days talking to God. She had a love for gardening/plants and sitting on the back porch in her swing. She could be found swinging and reading a book almost every day. If she was not outside, she was watching the Baylor Women's basketball team play. She loved spending time with her family and friends any chance she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Floyd and June Holland.

Glenise is survived by her husband, Dutch, and their daughter, Erin; three brothers, Tommy Holland and wife, Holly, Sammy Holland and wife, Rose, Kendall Holland and wife, Karen; brother-in-law, Kenneth "Babe" Cohrt and wife, Cindy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Glenise had a special group of friends; The YaYas, her beloved wiener dog, Mollie, and grand dog, Frankie.

On July 9, 2018, Glenise was gifted a second chance at life when she received a double lung transplant. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to UT Southwestern Heart and Lung Transplant Clinic.

Family would like to extend a special thank you to all staff at William P. Clements Hospital for the exceptional care provided during her final hospital stay.

I was saddened to hear of Glenise“s passing. She was my cousin and I always loved being around her when we were younger. She had a wonderful personality with an infectious laugh that made everyone smile. I will miss her. Prayers for all her family.
