Harvey Karl Abel passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, with his sweetheart, Ruth Murphy, and his family by his side. Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, with Pastor Mark Huffines officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.
Harvey was born February 16, 1939, in Marlin, Texas, to Karl and Ola Abel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughters, Tina Ford and husband, Don, of Junction, Texas; and Tanya Boulware of Waco; son, Robbie Abel, and wife, Taylor, of Lorena; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sweetheart, Ruth Murphy, of Thornton, Texas; her five children and ten grandchildren who loved him dearly; his brothers, Allan Abel and wife, Judy, Larry Abel and wife, CJ; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Brian Leathers, Luke Leathers, John Murphy, Clay Murphy, Jeremy Mathis, and Jimmy Rogers. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Gonzales, Ralph Shoemake, Brice Lockhart, William Willis, Mike Shook, Johnny Wyatt, Weyland Talafuse, and Billy Crelia.
Donations may be made in Harvey's honor to All Around Cowboy Church in Marquez, Texas or JMB Fishing Foundation at JMBfishing.org. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our "Tribute Wall" at www.WHBfamily.com.

As we only knew Harvey for 3 yrs, we like everyone else loved everything about him. He was kind & generous with a big smile & open arms to hug. We have enjoyed all the fishing stories with his buddy Ralph & enjoyed a number of fish fry´s. It was our honor to be in this neighborhood lake family with Harvey. With Love, James & Kim Barrington

We will miss his laugh, wry sense of humor and his generosity. Harvey was always willing to lend out his "barn" or table/chairs for neighborhood events. He loved getting together and spending an evening with neighbors at those famous fish frys he and Ralph loved to fish for.Every time I look at my tulip tree, I remember him with a smile because he always told us never to cut it down because that´s how he knew Spring was finally on it´s way every year.
