Joyce E. Sharman passed away April 15, 2023, two weeks after her 94th birthday, during which she spent the day surrounded by four generations of family members. She was a loving wife, devoted mom and granny, loyal friend, and steadfast follower of Jesus. Her friends and family will remember her for her wit, sense of humor, and hope that her family and friends would know Christ as their Lord and Savior the way she did. A graveside service was held Tuesday, April 18, at Waco Memorial Park.

Joyce was born April 1, 1929, in Waco, to George E. Smith and Rosa Lee Mitchell Smith. Driven by her strong work ethic, Joyce began working as a senior in high school and was proud of her professional accomplishments that enabled her to provide for her family. She worked for Southwestern Bell and AT&T, retiring from AT&T in 1987.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Sherman Smith; and sister, Charlotte Smith Haag. Joyce married the love of her life, John Sharman, on May 17, 1955, and they had been married for 65 years when he died in May 2020.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill Meredith and husband, Leon, Jamie Ries and husband, Chuck; son, Adrian Sharman and wife, Sandy; grandchildren, Jason Garner, Joni Meredith, Colby Meredith, David Meredith, Austin Ries, Morgan Ries, Laura Rios, John Rios; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
