Hard to believe its been so long since I saw Mike. I think about him often, especially when Im about to fire up the pit to grill something. Mike always loved to cook out.
One time on a Sunday while living at an apartment down at Baylor, Mike and I and a few other guys were going to cook a bunch of chicken and watch football all day. I had made a pile of coals in the pit but we were out of lighter fluid. Soooo, without anyone knowing, Mike got the bright idea to use a can of butane to start the fire. He worked diligently for 10 minutes or so to get every piece of charcoal loaded with butane and then commenced to light it.
All we saw was a huge flash from the back porch and heard Mike scream. He came jogging and jumping into the apartment holding his face with both hands. All of us were worried sick until he pulled his hands away and he was laughing. The flash had burned all the hair off his face, which wasnt much back then, but what was so funny was his eyebrows...they were gone! Man, we laughed about that just about every time we got together. I sure miss those days with him. RIP Mikey...miss you bro.

My heartfelt condolences to Mike's family. As many have said, Mike was such an incredible person. My life was forever changed for the better because of my friendship with him. I count myself infinitely blessed to have known him and laughed with him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I went to high shool with Mike and remember him as a great guy with a beautiful smile...I even think we dated for a little while. Life just doesn't seem fair and we don't always understand the "why" but do take comfort in knowing that Mike is somewhere beautiful and is without the pain and suffering of this world. Take care and please know that your family is being thought of during this time.

Peace and comfort to Mike's family, friends colleagues, and lovers. This is overwhelmingly painful and feels wrong. I pray for a calming spirit in us that can claim the beautiful and creative spirit that was in Mike, and keep it alive through us.

I am so sorry about Mike. He was one of my best friends in the world, even though I hadn't seen him lately. I'm sorry it took so long to write something, but it hit me so hard - I can't even imagine what you're going through. He was one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, with the best sense of humor ever (and he gave me my dachshund, Watson, which I'll always be grateful for). Hi my dear Sis Rita,
I Can't believe Michael has passed. Too young, just too young Richard and I keep saying. Stacey called us this morning and Richard had just opened the paper and saw Michael's name. Our hearts go out to you. No Mother should have to lose their child.
Stacey said she has a nice talk with Michael and they held hands and she knew he was at peace with everything. she wanted you to know that. We all had prayed for God's mercy for Michael and God was showing us that He love His child so much he needed him back in heaven and one day you and I and Michael will walk the streets heaven together. God only take the best Sis and Michael was one of the best. I will call you in a few days. I want to let the family have their time together. I love you so much and I want you to know your children hold a special place in my heart always have and always will. God is taking very good care of Michael Sis. No more pain or suffering. I know this will be very hard, but God will get you through it.
