To the Family of Nick Klaras - I knew Nick as the "owner of the fancy restaurant who made the effort to remember my name" and thus, as a 19 year old freshman at Baylor, Nick´s Resturant became my "go to" place when I wanted to impress someone. I suppose it was "luck of the draw" that Nick waited on me the first time I dined there, but from that point on, whenever I came in, he would come over to the table and greet me by name. I can´t tell you how much that meant to a 19 year old, he could have served skunk and I would have continued to eat there! But he didn´t, the food was excellent, and the memory has stuck with me for over 50 years.

Luanne and all of Nick's family,
I just got home from a vacation trip with my wife Ann,
and while checking my phone calls, I received the sad
one about Nick's passing. Nick and I grew up together.
He was always a special friend to me and my family.
And I know many friends share the loss.
My one regret is I was not here to express my love to
my great friend and a wonderful family man. May God give all of you a special touch of His wonderful grace during these sorrow filled days.
Luanne, Estelle, and all your family, my prayers are
with you.

Dear Luanne and family,
As I looked around the crowded church during Nick's funeral, I found myself wondering if there was anyone who didn't like Nick Klaras. Anyone, anywhere. I could not. As Nick left the church, followed by his loved ones, I thought of a scene in the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird" when Gregory Peck was leaving the courthouse and the old gentleman in the balcony said to his children "stand up, your father is passing"
Nick , Joel, and Jim Bob are surely telling some great stories now.

Luanne,Evan,Kim,Grant and Karen,
I was so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. He had the unique ability to let every person he knew just how very special they were (even if they were just an annoying little kid). He will be missed but never forgotten by anyone that had the pleasure to know him. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the many weekends our families spent on the deck boat. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Klaras family,
Please accept my deepest sympathies. Mr. Klaras was such a wonderful, warm person. My mother worked at the restaurant for many years and I catered for him as well. I'll always remember being in the serving line being amazed with the way he was with people. He knew everyone by name! And I believe everyone who knew him, loved him, I know I did. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

DEAR LOUANNE & FAMILY,
EVERYTHING I HAVE READ IN THE GUEST BOOK ABOUT NICK ARE TRUE. HE ALWAYS HAD A KIND WORD TO SAY, A BIG HELLO,
A FRIENDLY HANDSHAKE, AND HUG FOR EVERYONE. HE WALKED IN THE PATH OF OUR LORD. MAY HIS MEMORY BE ETERNAL.
LOVE TO YOU ALL

Mrs. Klaras: Nick Klaras was an important part of my family. As you know, my dad worked beside him day after day for many years at Nick's Restaurant. At one point or another, it seemed that all my brothers worked for Mr. Klaras. I received my first paycheck as a young man from Nick Klaras. He gave me not only that first paycheck, but also a sense of accomplishment; a sense of well-being; the belief that if you work hard, you will be awarded accordingly. He helped our family in so many ways, and for that, we will be forever grateful. He was always so friendly to me; always encouraging. I am blessed to have known such a good and generous man.

To the Family:
I am saddened to hear of Nick's death. I worked as a hostess at the restaurant when I was a Baylor student. I loved working for him. It was fun, but it was a business. I loved to watch him greet people and make everybody laugh. It was a great place to work! My sympathy goes to the family!

As a member of the Class of 1947, I am truly saddened to learn of Nick's death. He was so special to that class and to everyone else who was fortunate enough to know him. I'm grateful we did have our 60th reunion in 2007 and Nick was there greeting us all.
My deepest sympathy to the family.

Evan and all the Klaras family,
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. He was a great guy and I thought so much of him.
He and my dad were very good friends for over 40 years and whenever he saw me he always met me with a big hug and said, "Hey, Charles' daughter". That was a compliment to me. I'm sure he and Daddy are catching up on a lot of good times at the Scenic Wonderland and probably places they never told us about!
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time and remember that the things that are sad to think of now will become precious memories to you as time passes.
We will miss seeing him when we ("The Morticians") play.
God bless you all,

My first memories of Nick was when my co-workers would take me out to eat. He always advised me well on what to eat in Greek cuisine. Later, I knew him as he would work with my brother, Dan. He was kind, considerate and left a legacy behind. Thanks, Nick.
To Luann, Estelle and the rest of the family, my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Luanne and the Klaras family,
I was saddened this morning to read about Nick's passing. You both have been very special people to so many in the Waco area, and it's difficult to find the perfect adjective to describe you. It's not about the date you are born, or the date you die, but "what's in the dash" that separates those two dates. Nick's life speaks for itself! My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I will forever remember Nick's smile, his hugs and that special kiss on the cheek he always greeted me with in his wonderful Greek fashion.
May God comfort you and help time to heal your loss.

To me and my generation, Nick Klaras was representative of all the good things that came of growing up in the Waco community.
He was hard worker, a dreamer, and just a friend to everyone he met.
80 years is a good time for a good man: There's not much left to accomplish and it's time to graduate from the accomplishments you have made.
Certainly, many people benefited from Nick's influence, and today I just remember him and his family well.
This is Nick's time to get to seize something even better, and we all wish him and his family the best for sharing him with us.
To Nick's family: you father left a wonderful mark on a wonderful town filled with wonederful people.
Grieve but be proud.
God Bless.

Mrs. Klaras, my heart goes out to you and your family. I had the pleasure of meeting you both several years ago and we had a wounderful talk about my special needs grandson that I am helping to raise. Your gift to help the differently-abled also helped us with my grandson. You and your husband gave so much to help others and I wanted you to know that you both will have a "star in your crown". You will always be in our hearts. God bless you and yours. Much thanks..............Johnna

To Nick's family,
As you know, Nick was such a good and old friend of mine and my Dad's. There are no words to assuage the pain and loss you all feel now but Nick helped me when my Dad & Mama passed away and all I can do is thank you for sharing him with us and all of his friends for the time he was with us in this world. He was such a good and decent man; and such a loyal Baylor Bear.
Nick wept at my Dad's funeral; I will weep at his funeral; not because I begrudge him his eternal peace but because I will miss him in my world. But there will be a reunion where I believe all friends and family will share eternity with each other in the forever loving presence of God!
