Orval Allen Obituary

Orval O. Allen of Granbury, Texas, from Parkinson's Disease. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in the Norse Community near Clifton. Military graveside will be in the Norse Cemetery. Orval was born May 14, 1920, to Charles B. and Amanda Allen in Clifton, the youngest of nine children. He was a member of the 35th Division of the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in Europe and earning the Bronze Star Medal and five Battle Stars. For over 40 years, Orval worked for Statesman Insurance Company, culminating his career as CEO and President. He was long-time member of many charitable organizations including the American Legion and VFW, the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis, Ind., and the Kentucky Colonels. Orval loved western art and the outdoors. He was an avid golfer and hunter until illness kept him confined. His wife, Linda, and one brother, Vearle and wife, Hazel, of Hobbs, N.M. survive him. Also surviving are three sons from a previous marriage, Bob and wife, Jenny of Hewitt, Gary and wife, Nancy Berkeley, Calif., and Jim and Annalee of Oakland, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a nephew; several nieces; and many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Tucson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fire Department/ EMS at Pecan Plantation, 8650 Westover Ct., Granbury, TX 76049, or Universal Health Hospice, 1523 Lingleville #C, Stephenville, TX 76401.
