Raymond & Bernice Ramsey
Raymond Kenneth and Bernice Beavers Ramsey, of Elm Mott, were both welcomed into the arms of Jesus following an automobile accident on the evening of Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Visitation: 3 to 5PM Sunday, November 9 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.
Graveside Service: 2PM Monday, November 10 at Gerald Cemetery in Leroy.
Kenneth was born on March 6, 1935 in Elm Mott to Raymond L. and Oma Gunn Ramsey. He was a 1953 graduate of Connally High School. As a member of the Waco Army National Guard unit, he helped with rescue efforts after the Waco Tornado in 1953 after surviving the tornado hitting downtown. In his adult life, he worked with the Sears Appliance Service Department for 40 years, serving as manager for many of those, served on the Connally ISD School Board, and was a patient, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed working with his hands, crafting with wood, working cows, telling farming stories, and co-owning Angus Valley Farm Supply.
Bernice was born the only child to Raymond and Ruby Lee Harwell Beavers on January 17, 1939 in Lott. She was a 1957 graduate of Connally High School, and shortly following her graduation, she and Kenneth were united in marriage on June 1, 1957. Over the next 68 years together, they welcomed 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and their spouses into the fold. Bernice was well known for her green thumb, her amazing cooking and baking skills (Thanksgiving wasn't complete without her homemade rolls!), and her love for her family.
Both Kenneth and Bernice were faithful followers of Christ, raising their children and future generations to know the Lord. They were devoted members of the First Baptist Church of Waco for 42 years. They both taught Sunday school over many of those years, including teaching their own grandkids.
They were preceded in death by both of their parents; grandparents; Kenneth's siblings; and many aunts and uncles.
They are survived by their children, Don Ramsey of Elm Mott and longtime girlfriend, Penny Thorburn of Robinson, Darlene Gerath and husband, Matt of Elm Mott, and Deanna Mayes and husband, Michael of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Anna Gerath and significant other, Hunter Mainwal, and her daughter, Mattox and son, Ryker Zane of Elm Mott, Kurtis Gerath and wife, Stephanie and their daughters, Addison and Kenna of West, Brady Ramsey and wife, Michelle of Elm Mott, and Katelyn (Mayes) Young and husband, Kalin of Bangs; Bernice's uncle, Homer Harwell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary Pallbearers are Don Ramsey, Matt Gerath, Michael Mayes, Kurtis Gerath, Brady Ramsey, Kalin Young, Ryker Zane Sanchez and Hunter Mainwal.
