Robert Hoermann Obituary

Robert (Bob) Hoermann went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Harvey, Sidney, and Jesse. He is survived by three brothers: Leroy, Arlon, Paul "Grady," and a sister, Doris Spellmann. He is also survived by his wife, Dorothy Plasek Hoermann; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hoermann; a son, Matthew James Hoermann (with wife, Angela Payne Hoermann); a sister-in-law, Doris Walker; and five grandchildren and their families: Jessica Hoermann Ory (with husband, Taylor Ory and son, Jason Ory), Jacob Hoermann (with wife, Kaitlin Hoermann, and son, Warren Hoermann), Jamie Hoermann Given (with husband, Parker Given), Jonathan Hoermann, and Joshua Hoermann.

Bob always loved visiting with family and friends. He never met a stranger and would talk with anyone he met making them feel esteemed. He especially made time available for his children's and later his grandchildren's activities. He and his wife, Dorothy, found hours of pleasure attending their grandchildren's (the "5 J's") activities - from dance, gymnastics, and piano recitals to ALL team sports. He was a staunch Heritage School Eagles' fan and went to as many activities as possible.

Robert graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a master's degree of Agricultural Education. He led a busy life while working for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service for 33 years. After retiring, he spent his years ranching full-time. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed gardening, watching his cattle or goats graze, and fishing - especially fishing with his grandchildren. When stuck indoors, he loved reading.

Bob filled his life with service to whatever organization he joined. He served on numerous committees and boards and was a Rotarian in The Hillsboro Rotary Club for many years and was presented The Paul Harris Fellow Award. He also received the Distinguished Service Award from both the Texas and National Associations of County Agricultural Agents. He was the first County Agricultural Extension Agent to receive The Texas A&M University Former Students' Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award. In 1988, the Texas A&M University Board of Regents conferred upon him the title of County Extension Agent Emeritus.

Bob was also regularly active in the life of each church fellowship he joined. He enjoyed serving in multiple roles such as usher, Sunday school teacher, elder, and trustee. He and Dorothy always enjoyed daily Bible and devotional readings together.

Robert felt blessed to have a wonderful 62 years of marriage with his lovely wife, Dorothy, and a fun-filled life with his family, and many friends.

A private service and interment will be held at a later date

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in his memory to the Heritage School, Resurrection Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.
