Edwin Leo Scanlon, 95, of Ceresco, NE, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Saunders Medical Center LTC in Wahoo, NE. He was born August 20, 1929 in Ceresco, NE to James and Agnes (Caha) Scanlon. Edwin graduated from Ceresco High School. On April 12, 1969, Edwin was united in marriage to Elizabeth Weisbecker in Omaha, NE.
Edwin was a lifelong farmer who was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Davey and the Knights of Columbus. Family and farming were his life.
He is survived by children, Mike (Amber) Scanlon and Mary (Thomas) Taylor; grandchildren, Chelsea Prouty, Darcy Allen, Joseph Scanlon and Jake Scanlon; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Scanlon and JoAnn Scanlon; many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Scanlon; grandson, Paul Scanlon; parents, James and Agnes Scanlon; twin sister, Theresa Scheiding; sisters, Lucille Scanlon and Margaret Soucek; brothers, Joe Scanlon, James Scanlon, Frank Scanlon and Cornelius "Bill" Scanlon; infant sister, Anne Darlene Scanlon.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday (10/28/2024) 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 17640 N. 3rd St., Davey, NE. Celebrant, Rev. Douglas Dietrich. Visitation was held Sunday (10/27/2024) 5-7 p.m. with 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary all at Svoboda Funeral Home, Wahoo, NE. Interment at Sts. Mary & Patrick Cemetery, Davey, NE.
