Dale Duane Beling was born in Wahpeton, North Dakota, on Aug. 14, 1931, the son of Rudyard and Linda (Ambach) Beling. The family resided in Great Bend, North Dakota, and Dale graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1949. Following graduation, Dale attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree in 1953.
After his graduation from college, Dale enlisted in the Army and was stationed in the Marshall Islands during the Korean War. Dale often told stories of witnessing the testing of hydrogen bombs while overseas. In 1956, Dale married Darcey Miller, and together they had three children, Kim, Steven, and Michael. They made their home in the Fargo-Moorhead community.
Dale began his career in accounting at Broeker Hendrickson, which is now Eide-Bailey. He spent his entire career with the same firm, at one point becoming managing partner. Dale devoted his career to providing leadership for the development of the firm's healthcare practice. During his career, Dale was a member of the North Dakota Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, and the Hospital Financial Management Association.
In 1984, Dale married Diane Pigeon, and together, they enjoyed traveling, attending sporting and charity events, and spending time with their blended family. Dale was a faithful member of Bethel Church in Fargo, where he attended Bible study, went on mission trips, and was most proud to be a long-time greeter.
Dale was an avid NDSU Bison fan his entire adult life. He was the secretary/treasurer of the NDSU Team Makers for over 40 years. In recognition of this service, he was inducted into the NDSU Hall of Fame in 2005. Dale and Diane chaired the NDSU Bidders Bowl for multiple successful years. They were season ticket holders for Bison basketball and football and attended volleyball, softball, and baseball games. Dale's interest in the Bison led him to be on the Fargodome Authority Board of Directors.
Dale will be greatly missed by his children, Kim (Steve) Mann, Steven (Michele Stein) Beling, Michael (Michelle) Beling, stepdaughter Christi (Jim) Huether; grandchildren, Ashley (Justin Riveland) Fliflet, Alex (Sarah) Mann, Aubree (Jordan) Rostad, Mina Beling, Isaak Beling; step-grandchildren, Josh (Jenine) Teigen, Luke (McKenzie) Teigen, Emily Teigen, Jacob Teigen, Shayla Wirries; great-grandchildren, Jackson Fliflet, Colton Fliflet, Walter Teigen, Charlotte Wirries; and two additional great-grandsons on the way.
