Cynthia Lee (Smith) Ferris is now victorious in the arms of her Savior after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, passing peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Cynthia was born Feb. 6, 1957, in Lake Preston, SD, to William and Marie (Molander) Smith. Shortly after, the family moved to Little Falls before settling in Villard.
In August of 1977, Cindy met the love of her life, David Ferris, and they were married on Oct. 7, 1978. Together, they built their home in Osakis, just west of the Ferris family farm, where they began raising their children. Wanting more time together as a family, they pursued a dream, and in April 1995 they purchased Happiness Resort in Hackensack. For the past 31 years, they have cherished sunsets on Ten Mile Lake and the call of the loons.
Cindy loved spending winters on the Gulf Coast with Dave, and this past March, they treasured a special trip where all their children and grandchildren joined them. She found joy in watching her grandchildren swim, playing games with them, and sharing her passion for crocheting - always making sure there was a colorful afghan to choose from.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Smith; and her in-laws, Robert and Marlys Ferris.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David Ferris; children Angela (Tony) Arnold, John (Lacey) Ferris and Kelly (Steve) Schneider; her nine beloved grandchildren, Savannah, Kaelyn, Natalie, Kendall and Leslie Schneider, Coralee and Everett Arnold, and Emory and Greyson Ferris; and siblings Deb, Bill (Nancy), Sue, Scott (Peggy) and Todd (Lisa).
Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 5 followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. at Calvary Church in Walker. A light lunch will be served following the service.
Flowers may be sent to Northern Peace Funeral Home. Memorial donations will be designated by the family at a later date.
