Alice Keating Obituary

WALTHAM Alice Theresa Keating of Waltham died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Stanley P. Tippett Home in Needham after a lengthy illness. She was 88. The daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Moore) Keating, she was born, raised and educated in Waltham, where she had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Charles High School. A retired teletype operator, having worked at Unicite for more than 20 years, she had also worked at General Motors, Honeywell and the Social Security Office. She was a longtime volunteer with West Suburban Elder Services Agency. Ms. Keating was the sister of the late Marie Cotton and Richard Keating; aunt of the late John J. Cotton and Richard T. Cotton; and great-aunt of the late Regina Cotton. She is survived by her nephew, Michael Cotton and his wife, Diane, of Waltham; her nieces, Betty Cotton of Norwood and Karen Makula of Florida; her great-nieces, Carla Cotton, Jean Cotton, Lisa DeCosta, Maryellen Wall, Kristen Giorgi, and her great-nephews, Jay Cotton and Richard Cotton. She is also survived by her great-great- nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., Waltham, with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at Saint Marys Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will held at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, N.E. Chapter, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
