Howard W. Hunter

MANCHESTER, NH Howard W. Hunter, 82, of Manchester, died September 4, 2009 at Villa Crest Nursing Home. Mr. Hunter was born in Newton, MA on December 14, 1926 the son of Wilbur W. and Marion B. (Howard) Hunter. He was raised in Waltham, MA and graduated from Waltham High School. He received an Associate Degree from Stockbridge School at University of Massachusetts in 1952 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture the University of New Hampshire 1972. He married Elizabeth J. Stiles in 1953; she died in 2003. He was an Army Veteran of WW II and a member of American Legion Post 91, Candia. He worked as a custodian at the University New Hampshire and for 10 years at St. Anselm College. Mr. Hunter was a lifelong supporter and troop committee member of the Boy Scouts of America. He has resided in Manchester since 1984 and was a member of First Congregational Church. Survivors include four children, Sharon H. Stiles of Southbury, CT, Jocelyn H. MacDonald of Manchester, Daniel P. Hunter of Gorham, ME, Alison Hunter of Bow, NH, grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St. corner of Harrison Street, Manchester. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in First Congregational Church, 508 Union Street, Manchester, NH.
