Margaret M. Thonis

Margaret M. (Swensen) Thonis, 51, of Maple Street, died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston after a lengthy illness. Margaret was born in Waltham, May 15, 1960, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Abigail M. (Brayne) Swensen and moved from Waltham to Townsend in 1976. Margaret leaves her husband of 29 years, Thomas P. Thonis; four daughters, Abigail B. Thonis, Sarah E. Thonis, Jessica L. Thonis and Alexandra L. Thonis all of Townsend; three brothers, Robert T. Swensen of Niantic, CT, Brian D. Swensen of Ashby, Stephen Swensen of Somerville; three sisters, Mary Lee Ridings and Kathleen Spinney both of Townsend and Gail M. O'Donnell of Waltham. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was a 1979 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend and continued her education at Henri School of Hair Design in Fitchburg. For ten years Margaret worked for Brookside Farms as a school bus driver in Townsend. Previously, she worked as a hair stylist at the Henri Hair Salon in Bedford, New Hampshire. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Townsend where she taught CCD for eight years. She also coached the North Middlesex Pop Warner Cheerleading program for over six years. Arrangements A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School Street, Townsend. Burial will be private.
