James W. "Bubba" Brannan

1949 - 2021

James W. 'Bubba' Brannan, 72, of Wapakoneta, died 5:36 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 28. 2021, at Mercy Health- St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born July 15, 1949, in Lima, the son of the late Elmer C. 'Jack' and Iva Irene (Krites) Brannan. On Oct. 20, 1972, he married Devra L. Waterman, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters: Jamie Brannan, Wapakoneta, Jodi (Jason) Wright, Lima; four grandchildren, Zack Brannan, Zerrick Brannan, Jaideyn Brannan, Jaden Wright; two great grandchildren who were the 'Light of his Life' and called him Pop Pops: Zuri Brannan, Nyla Brannan; a brother, Dave 'Tiny' (Michele) Brannan, Spencerville; a brother-in-law, Steve (Connie) Kinstle, Wapakoneta; two nieces; one nephew; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Kinstle.
Bubba retired from the Wapakoneta Fire Dept. He also worked at Kent Surveying, Cotner's Hardware, and the Lima Bargain Center. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam, from 1969 to 1970, and was a life member of the Wapakoneta V.F.W., Post #8445, Wapakoneta.
Bubba coached the Wapakoneta High School girls bowling team, and Little League baseball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, watching sports on ESPN, and was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive family and friends 2-4 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W., Post #8445, at the funeral home following the funeral service.
