Rita M. "Petey" McCullough

Rita M. "Petey" McCullough, 83, of New Knoxville, OH, of New Knoxville, died 11:50 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Otterbein-St. Marys, with her family at her side. She was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Auglaize Co., the daughter of Dillon John and Hulda Louise (Manzelman) Hollenbacher, who preceded her in death. On December 28, 1957, she married Donald E. McCullough, and he survives.
Other survivors include 3 daughters, Teresa "Terri" (Dave) Goodwin, New Bremen, OH, Rebecca "Becky" (Steve) Doty, Wapakoneta, OH, Cindy (Andy) Shroyer, New Knoxville, OH; 6 grandchildren, Curtis (Haley) Goodwin, Toni Goodwin, Mitchell (Casey) Doty, Michael (Ashley) Doty, Nathanial (Jenna) Shroyer, Katie Shroyer (Chris Tinnerman); 16 great grandchildren; sister, Ruby (Ned) Berlet, Wapakoneta; brother, Ernie (Nancy-dec) Hollenbacher, Wapakoneta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol (Kermit, Jr.-dec) McCullough, Paul (Barb) McCullough, Joann (Bill-dec) Dull, Connie (Bob)Sutton; several special friends at Otterbein.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Josiah Shroyer, siblings and spouses, Roger (Joyce) Hollenbacher, Marilyn (Bob) Eisert, Ruth (Paul) Zwiebel. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James (Nancy) McCullough.

Rita worked as an auction clerk for the Myers Auction Service for 17 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Church of Kettlersville, and a 1958 graduate of Blume High School. Petey was a woman of faith, faithful to her baptismal promises for her daughters, and continued to search out the Lord through Bible study. She enjoyed reading, cleaning, line dancing, shopping, journaling, and pulling weeds. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her dogs.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive family and friends 1-3 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
