Michael Swearngin

1959 - 2023

Artist, Michael Swearngin, was born on Aug. 5, 1959, in Olathe, KS, and died peacefully at age 64 on Aug. 26, 2023, in Scottsdale, AZ.
Michael had a life of an artist and could draw and paint at a very young age. He was a cowboy at heart with a passion and talent for painting Western-themed art. Combining his interest in contemporary art with the fading heritage of the American Cowboy, he expressed his experiences to others through his art for many years. Even though being an artist was tough at first, through his faith and love of Jesus, he grew to become a nationally renowned artist, with his paintings displayed in many galleries and even at the Smithsonian. His works are in homes and businesses all over the country. He was not only a great artist, but he was also a wonderful son, brother, and friend.
Michael is preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, Lowell and Faye Swearngin; maternal grandparents, George and Phyllis Innes; his father, Charles Swearngin; his uncle Carl and Aunt Hazel Swearngin; and his cousin Shawn Swearngin.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Swearngin; sister, Kellie Daniels (Tim and niece Kayla); brother, Philip Swearngin (Melissa and nephew Jackson); his sister, Lindsey Nix (David); and also his aunt Doris Adams and cousins Clinton and Sam Swearngin and their families.
They have supported his art career and encouraged him to keep the heritage of the West alive through his contemporary cowboy paintings. Heaven has received a very talented artist.
Graveside services for Michael will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, MO.
