Richard Dunkley Corum, 72, of Topeka, Kansas, died November 21, 2021, at home with his family by his side.
Richard was born February 9, 1949, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to H. Smith and Margaret Shanklin Corum, where he attended school and graduated from Central Missouri State University. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dallas Corum.
Richard is survived by his wife, Margie, of 51 years; his son, Chris (Tammy) Corum; and daughter, Holly (Doug) Ford. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, CaLee (Nolan) Young, Spenser Hoyt, Paige Corum, Connor Hoyt, Camron Corum, JoCee Hoyt, Dylan Ford; and one great-grandchild, Gregory Young.
Richard worked in various positions over his career, eventually retiring as a manager from Orscheln Farm and Home. He was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka where he was a member of the choir. Richard enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Cole Camp, Missouri, and attending sporting events of his grandchildren. Richard was a history buff and enjoyed researching family history. He was also active in State of Kansas politics, volunteering for several political campaigns.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial is 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cole Camp, Missouri.
