Virgie Lee Fockler

1925 - 2024

Virgie Lee (Beard) Fockler, age 99 passed away October 7th, 2024 at Country Club Rehab and Healthcare Center in Warrensburg, MO. She was born on June 4, 1925 in Valley City, MO to Fred and Louise (Bode) Beard of Knob Noster, MO. On September 17, 1941 she was united in marriage to Lloyd George Fockler who preceded her in death on September 19, 1987. They were married for 46 years and to this union six children were born. They lived in the Knob Noster area most of their lives.

In addition to being a homemaker, Virgie worked outside the home performing housekeeping duties for families at Whiteman AFB, worked at several cafes and was a caretaker for individuals in their homes. She also worked at Unifemme Garment Factory in Warrensburg MO for 23 years. She was dedicated, honest and trusted by all.

After her husband's death she moved to Parkview Gardens in Warrensburg, MO where she resided for 25 years until the age of 95. Her last four years were spent at Country Club Rehab and Healthcare Center.

Virgie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had great faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and followed in her Savior's footsteps by expressing her love, generosity, compassion and service to others.

Virgie is survived by children Dean (Brenda) Fockler of Sedalia, MO, Cherylene (Bob) Alexander of Tucson, AZ, Roxanna (Vaughn) Walters of Chillicothe, MO and Doug (Terry) Fockler of Centerview, MO; 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and many other relatives. She is also survived by her beloved twin sister Mildred Beard with whom she shared a room at Country Club Rehab and Healthcare Center for the last two years of her life.

Virgie was preceded in death by her husband and parents; daughters Iris Smith (and her husband Larry) and Debra Morris; granddaughters Terri Lynn Smith and Meghan Kimbler; brothers Noah Beard and Ervin Beard; sisters Dora Beard, Vera Beard, Roxie Ballew, Helen Cundiff, Lela Fockler and Zeta Boyle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, Warrensburg, MO
