John Frahm Obituary

Stillwater, MN - John Arthur "Jack" Frahm, Jr., age 81, formerly of Stillwater and Waseca, Minnesota, was called to the Lord peacefully on September 24, 2025 in Lilydale, Minnesota.

Jack was born on March 8, 1944, in St. Peter, Minnesota to John A. Frahm, Sr. and Malinda (Trick) Frahm. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Green Isle, Minnesota. Being raised in Green Isle, he graduated from Arlington - Green Isle High School in 1962. Following graduation, Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966 as a flight simulator specialist, the beginning of a lifelong career in technology and engineering. After his military service, he pursued a degree at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, earning a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with distinction in 1970.

On September 14, 1968, Jack married the love of his life, Elaine Herrmann (of Norwood-Young America). Together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage, raising two sons, John and Matthew. After a brief stint in northern Illinois, the family was primarily raised in Waseca and Stillwater, Minnesota.

Jack began his professional career as a design engineer at Motorola in Schaumburg, Illinois. In 1974, he and his wife Elaine moved to Waseca, Minnesota, where he worked at E.F. Johnson Company until 1991 in both engineering and manufacturing. In 1991, they relocated to Stillwater, where Jack continued his engineering career in the Twin Cities at Interactive Technologies, Inc. (aka Interlogix/GE Security/United Technologies), where Jack remained employed until his retirement. He was highly respected in electrical engineering and among those who worked with him.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, diligence, sharp intellect, hands-on skills, and generosity. He enjoyed fly-tying, fishing, tinkering in the garage, painting, recreational mathematics, camping, movies, building scale models, gardening, feeding birds, and spending time with Elaine, especially in the outdoors. He became a fan of her sports. In recent years Jack and Elaine have been regular members of South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, and St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Afton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Malinda Frahm, his sisters, Betty Wroge and Sandra Dressen, and grandchildren, Wyatt Bartholomew Frahm (John and Jennifer) and Alex Frahm (Matthew and Monica).

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Frahm; his sons, Rev. John A. Frahm, III (Jennifer) and Matthew Frahm (Monica), his brothers-in-law, Donald Wroge (husband of Betty and Kenneth Dressen (husband of Sandra), his beloved grandchildren: Jonas, Karl and Zoe; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Christian funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 3rd at South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM at the church, burial at Rutherford Cemetery in Stillwater. In Christ, we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
