ALAN BASTANI Obituary
Dr. ALAN MATTHEW BASTANI
Dr. Alan Matthew Bastani passed away on Sunday December 31, 2017. Dr. Bastani was a practicing oncologist and hematologist in the Northern Virginia area since 1968 after his internship at Fordham University and residence at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He had offices in Alexandria, Fairfax and Woodbridge. After retiring from his private practice he was a visiting physician throughout the country in federal prison hospitals and the Veterans Administration for several years. Dr. Bastani was an avid runner who completed the Marine Corps Marathon three times. Dr. Bastani was also a dedicated student of the Bible and studied several ancient languages to further his understanding of the Old and New Testament. Dr. Bastani was preceded by his parents and his two brothers. He is survived by his son, Alex. Dr. Bastani was 85 at the time of his passing. There will be a Memorial service on Saturday February 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA. 22315. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Bastani's family requests well wishers make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
