I am a tai chi class member at Longwood and met Albert there. He was a gifted individual showing such kindness, thoughtfulness, concern, and tact with all he came in contact.
One thing I m trying to adopt from Albert is a slower more deliberate response to lifel; easier said than done &Albert made it look easy!
My condolences to his family and friends.

To my friend Albert,

It has been a true privilege and honor to have known you for so many years. I have many fond memories of laughing and enjoying your company both on and off the golf course as well as teaming up to play basketball and volleyball with the CYC team(s).

Save me a seat next to you at the bar on the 19th hole! Rest in peace my friend.

Our most sincere condolences to all members of the Der family for this most tragic loss.

Always love,

"Fast" Eddie and Carol Yee

Sincerest condolences are sent to Albert's family with love. I pray that he will rest in peace in Heaven. I had the good fortune of seeing him again at the Western High School 50th Reunion held in 2015. The Photo Gallery here is awesome and the love shared by Albert and his family members was witnessed. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." "The lives of the dead are placed in the memories of the living." I believe that our loved ones who have transitioned become our guardian angels. I therefore, feel that Albert will be watching over all of you eternally. Be blessed.

What a nice humble person! Always considerate and helpful to all. Never got to play tennis with Albert and Gail, a formidable team. Life is like tennis, a person that serves well seldom loses. He will be remembered as a true winner in life.
May remembering Albert's life bring out the best in us. Gail, you brought out the best in Albert!
In joy,

My oldest cousin, Albert, was indeed a great man! He was always so kind to others and will be truly missed by the many he has touched with his true kindness and sincere friendliness! Heaven welcomed Albert with open arms and he indeed is a very special angel! I am sad that I lost a great cousin, but knowing he will be reunited with his mom and dad and grandparents, as well as many other we know in Heaven, does help dealing with the sadness. R.I.P. Albert! Your wonderful spirit will always be with us!
Sending you hugs and love, Deedee

Compassionate, benevolent and a good friend is how I describe Albert. Now, I've lost one of my good friends. While is difficult to see beyond the sorrow, looking back in his memory
helps comfort tomorrow. The goal of life is not to live forever, the goal is to leave a legacy that will. Albert, you have left a legacy of a loving person. We hope your family finds comfort knowing all the goodwill that you have left behind. Rest in peace.

It was a shock, a surprise, or no way to describe how I felt when I read the email that Gail forwarded to me about your stroke. We just had a Tai-chi Class on Monday, November, 21. You just came back from your two weeks of Florida
vacation. How could that happen.
As you know, you were well loved by everyone in the Tai-chi Class, especially me.
i always feel save to be absent from the class because I know that you would taking care of the class. Now, with you left to be with the God, no one will take care the class when I am away.
Rest in peace. We'll miss you. Susan Poh...

My wife, Martine and I have been taking a Tai Chi class with Albert as the honoree Assistant Instructor. We were struck by his kindness and gentleness. He had a habit of quietly giving me a review of some of my techniques after class. Our whole class was shaken after hearing of the pass of such a fine man.

Albert was always the friendliest person in the room. He liked people and people liked him. He had a great sense of fun and humor, loved to laugh and to make you laugh, which he always did. Albert will be missed by many people for a long, long time. I will always remember Albert fondly with a big smile on his face. Life is fragile, short, and precious.

Albert, watching you grow into an amazing nephew was truly a joy in my life. You have touched the lives of so many dear families and friends by your love, caring, kindness and understandings. Saying good-bye is so hard do, for we all love and will miss you dearly. Memories of you will forever live in our hearts and remain always part of our lives. Memories of you will always be the best. God has blessed you with such a loving wife, children, grandchildren and many loving families and friends. As your work on earth is done, God called you home, but you did not go alone for part of us went with you. Although our family chain is broken once again, as God call us one by one, our chain will link again. As the years go by, never will we say good-bye. Rest in peace my dear nephew, until we again.

We were fortunate to know Albert from the East Coast Chinese Family Camp, a setting where Albert's positivity, community spirit, good humor and athleticism really allowed him to shine as a star Uncle. Over the years we came to appreciate that he was welcomed for these very same qualities in the many other groups in which he participated. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with Gail, Andrew and Katherine.

We've known Albert since the CYC Volleyball days where the younger players looked up to him because of his experience. He married our childhood friend, Gail, and raised a family with beautiful children and grandchildren. We were blessed to be able to reconnect with Albert & Gail recently in Las Vegas to play golf and where they got a kick out of a vegetarian grilling a great filet mignon for them. We will miss Albert's infectious smile and sense of humor. Our deepest condolences to Gail and her family.

I first met Albert when we both started working for the Federal Power Commission, about 1969 or 1970. Albert was the type of person whom everyone immediately liked when first meeting him. He was a quiet and confident fellow, very thoughtful but also quite funny at times, too. Albert had a knack for understanding problems. His friendly advice was always welcome and well-taken. He was kind and generous. All who knew Albert will miss him dearly.

Having met Albert only a couple of years ago, my only wish was that I would have been a friend of his decades earlier. He really impressed me with his words and actions and I really appreciated the times golfing with him.

Albert, Thank you for your kind heart, your openness, and sharing your wonderful stories. You showed us self confidence while you spoke of your weaknesses and vulnerabilities. You taught us about your experience with exploring your inner strengths and overcoming fears. Above everything, you taught us that Love is the greatest power of all. We will forever hold you in our thoughts and prays.
