ALBERT YOON Obituary

DR. ALBERT SUK-CHUL YOON
On March 18, 2013, Dr. Albert Suk-chul Yoon of Fairfax, Virginia, our beloved husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather, left our world peacefully at the age of 74 after a lengthy illness.  A respected physician, he served the capital region's mental health care community as a psychiatrist until a few months before his death. He was a native of South Korea and an American citizen. He trained as a physician and psychiatrist at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and completed his U.S. residency at The Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. He was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia and at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He retired from the Alexandria Mental Health Clinic in December 2012.  Dr. Yoon was active in the Korean Community, serving a term as President of the Yoon-Dong Ju Society of the Greater Washington Area. He also volunteered as a lecturer on mental health issues to the Korean Community.  Dr. Yoon is survived by his wife, Lisi; his former wife, Young-Soon Lee; daughters Helena Yu of Los Angeles, and Lisa Atkins of Ashburn; son Dr. Michael Yoon of Philadelphia; stepson Marcel Reynolds of San Francisco; and eight grandchildren. Services will be private.
