Alice Eichers

Alice Eichers of Arlington passed away on April 22, 2023 at Sunrise Bluemont assisted living facility, following a COVID-related respiratory illness. Alice was born on May 13, 1938 in Newark, NJ to Myrtle and William Issacs. She later became sister to brothers William, Jr and Richard Isaacs. Through her early childhood, Alice's family lived in several cities in the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico as her father was stationed at various Naval facilities. Her family settled in Silver Spring, MD in the 1950s, and she attended Mackin High School in DC, where she graduated in 1956. She attended Montgomery Junior College, where she graduated with an Associates degree in Art in 1958. Alice married Theodore (Ted) Eichers, originally of Minnesota in April 1958 and remained married until his death in 1997. Alice and Ted later had six children, born between 1960 and 1973. The family moved to Arlington in 1966 and all six children (Teri, Danny, Tim, Robin, Kevin and Lisa) remain living in the Northern Virginia/DC area. Alice enjoyed traveling, arts/crafts and outdoor activities. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, May 9, 11 a.m.; St Ann Catholic Church, 5300 North 10th Street Arlington, Virginia 22205. Alice prayed with the Thursday morning St. Ann Legion of Mary Rosary Circle at Sunrise Bluemont Park Senior Residence. Each of us will miss Alice's sweet presence. When asked what she would like us as a group to pray for, her prayer was for her family. Our group will continue to keep Alice and her family in our prayer.

It was my privilege to serve with Alice on the St. Ann Adult Religious Enrichment Committee as well to share with her in the group study of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si. In both, she offered much helpful information, especially on the care for creation. Her family might be pleased to know that she brought cookies (purchased) to the events hosted by the ARE committee.

May all of you in Alice's family be comforted knowing that you gave her so much caring support in her last years and that you will be together again someday.

Alice and I were classmates at Mackin High School, and she was a frequent attendee at our class reunions over the years. Although our ranks are thinning a bit, she will be missed when we gather to remember to good old days May she Rest in The Peace of Christ.
