My sympathies to Ambassador Pickering, Tim, and Meg, and to the grandchildren. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Alice, but I have enjoyed her teachings through my mentor, Alice's son. Alice has and will continue to touch many people she could never meet this side of Heaven! May our Lord bless the Pickering family. The world is a better place because of Alice!

I am deeply saddened by the news of Alice's death. Although we never served in the same post, our paths crossed over a span of 54 years, and we had just come together to form a book club to which Alice had so much to contribute. She was a gallant trouper and a model Foreign Service professional. Alice will be sorely missed by everyone lucky enough to have known your wonderful wife and mother. My deepest sympathy for your loss goes to you, Tom, and to Meg and Tim. With love,
