Allen Mandelblatt
Allen Mandelblatt of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 24, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Mandelblatt; devoted father of David (Jill) and Michael (Janet); loving grandfather of Rachel and Sarah.
Allen was born and raised in Far Rockaway, NY and later moved to the D.C. area when he got married. Allen and Sandra settled into a home in Kemp Mill Estates where they raised a family and lived for almost 60 years before moving in 2019 to Riderwood Senior Living, just a few miles away.
Allen served in the Navy and graduated from the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for local DC drug store institutions Dart Drug and Rodman's Drug before opening his own store, Fairfax Drugs, in Fairfax, VA. "Doc Al" was adored by many in the community for over 20 years. He closed out his career as a pharmacist for CVS.
Allen was an avid D.C. sports fan, a longtime supporter of multiple philanthropic organizations including the General Israel Orphans Home for Girls, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Public Broadcasting. His favorite pastimes were traveling, walking, playing poker, and sharing time with family and friends.
Allen was surrounded and comforted by his immediate loved ones during his final days and is now at peace with his dear wife Sandra. The family wants to extend a gracious thank you to the staff and caregivers at Riderwood Senior Living for providing a wonderful environment and skilled, compassionate care.
Graveside services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum https://www.ushmm.org/. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Funeral Care.

Mr. Mandleblatt was one of the sweetest patients I ever worked with, He was always pleasant and just a great person even when he wasnt feeling his best, I will miss seeing his face in the office and will always think of him when I buy "gummy bears"
