On Sunday, February 13, 2011 of Burke, VA. Beloved husband of Ruth Ungerleider. Loving father of Neil (Diane Stern) Ungerleider of Boxford, MA; Ilene (Alex Pirie) Ungerleider of Somerville, MA and Dan (Stacey) Ungerleider of Burke, VA. Brother of Annette Martin of Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel. Grandfather of Ben, Isaac, Sarah, Sage, Rachel and Alison. Memorial service 11 a.m. Sunday, February 20 at Congregation Olam Tikvah, 3800 Glenbrook Rd. Fairfax, VA 22031. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to 29th Division Association C/O Don McKee, 305 Northwest Dr. Silver Spring, MD 20901 or Congregation Olam Tikvah

We at Normandy Allies are so very grateful for all that Al did to help us get started--a wonderful, generous man, a hero by any standards.
His interactions with our students were very significant and his support for our mission meant so much. He is greatly appreciated and greatly missed.

I worked with Al for over 10 years at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and learned a tremendous amount from him about D-Day (he was in the 2nd wave on Omaha Beach), the War, and life in general. He actually gave me some of the best advice in life that anyone ever has, namely moral lessons. His contribution to making the world a better place was enormous. His colleagues at the Museum will miss him a lot. Ted Shealy
