Ann Capodanno Obituary

Born in Somerville, MA to Irish and Italian parents, Ann lived a full-hearted life - spanning continents, careers, and generations - before passing peacefully at home in Erie, CO, surrounded by family, at the age of 93.

Earning her RN from Carney Hospital at 20 she soon rose to head nurse at Mass General Hospital. In 1961, she married Jerry Sullivan during a historic Boston blizzard and began a life of travel back and forth across the Atlantic before raising five children in Bethesda, MD.

Ann earned a Master's in Psychology from Antioch College, then worked as Associate Director at Psychiatric Institute of Washington and a healthcare consultant at Medlantic. At 60, she called her final position - Oncology Program Manager at the University of Colorado Hospital - "the best job of her life," where she coordinated cancer clinical trials with compassion and precision.

In Colorado, Ann embraced the mountain lifestyle - skiing, gardening, and bookstore cafés. She volunteered for local nonprofits, taught ESL students, and cheered 11 grandchildren at countless events. In 1996, she was honored in the "Plaza of Heroines" at Iowa State University.

She is survived by her children Daniel, Moira, Douglas, Neil, and Gianna; grandchildren; and a circle of extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held August 2, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EFAA, Intercambio, or Sister Carmen Center. Memories may be shared at [email protected].
