ANN SHERIDAN

SHERIDAN Ann Holt Sheridan "Grand Marnier" Died peacefully on October 20, 2021, at Sunrise of Annapolis in Annapolis, MD. She was born in Alexandria, VA on June 11, 1932 to Fred and Gertrude Holt. Ann was predeceased by her sisters Joyce, Mary and Peggy and all were 7th generation Alexandrians. Ann attended St. Mary Mother of God Elementary School in Washington, DC and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Alexandria, VA. She, and her identical twin sister Joyce, worked as catalog models for Woodward & Lothrop in DC. Ann also worked for the Smithsonian on an upper floor inside the famous Castle on the Mall. On October 5, 1957, Ann married Dr. Edward J. Sheridan, Jr. MD, at The Basilica of Saint Mary Church in Old Town Alexandria, VA. They were married for 64 years until her passing. While Ed was starting his medical career he and Ann lived in Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI, San Francisco, CA and Arlington, VA before settling in Washington, DC in 1964 where they both lived until August of 2021. Ann was a gourmet cook who thoroughly enjoyed hosting numerous dinner and cocktail parties. She was the quintessential hostess and loved to entertain large gatherings at their Crestwood home including hosting Christmas Eve Caroling for their beloved neighborhood of over 50 years. She also enjoyed attending the ballet and opera at the Kennedy Center. Her best friends Debbie Durham, Laurie Werner, John JJ Forster and Dick Gordon shared many laughs and good times including their FLICKS movie watching group. Ann was a gifted artist and her beautiful oil paintings hung in their Crestwood home. Her creative talents also included writing a television series for WGBH (Boston) in the 1970s. She made friends across the political spectrum. Ann marched in Selma, was actively involved in the Presidential campaigns of Hubert Humphrey and Scoop Jackson, and attended the Democratic Convention in Chicago in 1968. During the Vietnam War, Ann volunteered as a Gray Lady at Bethesda Naval Hospital, working on various art projects with wounded veterans returning home. She also volunteered for The Christ Child Society in DC. Later in her life she served as a member of the Ignation Society and supported the traditional Latin Mass at St. Mary Mother of God Church in DC. She frequently attended daily Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church in DC. Ann is survived by her husband Ed Sheridan of Annapolis, MD; her daughter Liz Martinez (Jim) of Annapolis and her son Ted Sheridan (Liz) of Davis, CA. Ann leaves behind six grandchildren Kelsey Peusch (Ryan), Molly Martinez, Trevor Martinez, Samantha Sheridan, Kathleen Sheridan, and Charlie Sheridan; and two great grandsons Henry Peusch and Watson Peusch.
