Audrey Mae Arvin "Gigi" (Age 89)
In loving memory of Audrey M. Arvin Devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Audrey was born in Piney Swamp, VA on February 18, 1932 and she transitioned on November 21, 2021 The only child of Roy and Mattie Kennedy grew up in Baltimore, MD. Audrey graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, MD. where she was the president of her 1951 senior class. After graduation, she moved to New York, to attend nursing school, where she met William Arvin, a fellow Baltimorean and started a family. While in Harlem, Audrey enjoyed arts and cultural activities. Audrey especially loved poetry, her favorite poet was Langston Hughes.Returning to Baltimore in the 1960's she worked for University of Maryland Hospital for 30 years. In retirement, Audrey enjoyed horse racing and the company of family and friends.She is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.In her memory, a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
