Audrey Finlayson Cannamela
Peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2023, Audrey Finlayson Cannamela of Reston, VA, and long-term Executive Director of the non-profit Foundation for Contemporary Mental Health of Washington, DC passed away after a long battle with cancer. She was a beloved 45-year partner of Paul Velde; mother of Alexandra Christine Cannamela and Damian Christopher Cannamela; grandmother of Siris Rain Cannamela; stepsister of Anne Marie Beck; and friend of stepsons Breien and John Velde and their families. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Caroline and Claus Beck of Pittsburgh, PA. and father and stepmother Oarl and Jeanette Finlayson of Orlando, FL. Funeral service will be held at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave, Vienna, VA, on April 26 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences and tributes to her memorial obituary will be welcomed by the family at:

Around 1964, Audrey and I both needed someone to talk with about the changes in our lives. We never kept in touch, but she was a true soul, meant for great deeds and experiences. Her spirit will live on.

Audrey and I were in a van pool together during the 1980s and early 1990s, and stayed in touch thereafter. She was always upbeat, even when her health wasn't. See you down the road, my friend.
