AUSTIN BRODIN Obituary

AUSTIN THOMAS BRODIN (Age 51)
Austin Thomas Brodin, 51 of Fairfax, VA passed away on July 29, 2017 at his home in Nags Head, NC. Austin was born on March 12, 1966 in Burlington, Vermont. He was raised in Northern Virginia, graduated from Robinson Secondary School, George Mason University and earned his law degree from University of Virginia. Austin practiced law in Fairfax. Austin always had a bright smile for everyone and a witty sense of humor. It was obvious when he was going to say or do something mischievous, by the sparkle in his blue eyes, his childlike smile and contagious laugh. Austin was a loving husband, a devoted son, brother and uncle. He was a self-taught, jack-of-all-trades; able to repair or create anything he desired. He took great pleasure in his many projects and loved sharing his latest invention. He found joy living at the beach. Austin and his dog, Coco, were inseparable. Austin is survived by his parents, Thomas and Roberta Brodin; wife, Rowena Brodin; brothers Drake T. Brodin and Davis Brodin, sisters, Allison Brodin and Bettina Drehmann; sisters-in-law, Teresa M. Brodin, and Ann Pugh; niece, Taylor Brodin and nephews, Chase Brodin and Gage Karet. He will also be missed by his beloved companion, Coco. He is pre-deceased by his brother Brian Brodin. A celebration of Austin's life will take place at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Rd. Fairfax, VA 22032 on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. with a visitation following the service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow the visitation at Fairfax Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Austin's name to the Outer Banks SPCA at P.O. Box 2477, Manteo, NC 27954. www.fmfh.com

I have such wonderful memories of Austin as boy and young man. In particular, I remember how he went out of his way to make me feel welcome and included at Brodin family gatherings.

May peace be with his family.

I am so sorry to hear of Austin's death. He was a classmate of mine at U.Va.'s law school and I thought highly of him.

I wish I had known about his death sooner because I would have attended the viewing and his entombment.

Austin was a good friend in High School, at a very important and formative time in my life. I will always remember him with fondness and gratitude. My most heartfelt sympathies are extended to Austin's family at Austin's departure from this world far too soon.

Visits to Virginia were looked upon with great anticipation. It was always a pleasure to see our cousins, and take some time to get caught up on recent events and what was currently going on with our lives. And although we were separated by most of the continent for most of our lives, fond memories remain of the few times Austin and I spent alone together. Austin was in Law School, and I was about to begin my last semester at school. During a brief pre-Christmas visit to Fairfax, Austin and I went for a run late one cool December evening. We were both excited about where we were, and what mysteries were in store for us in the coming years. Although we were not the closest of cousins, my memories are fond, and our loss is profound. Austin will always be looked upon with fondness, and his memories in my mind will always spark a memory of his infectious smile and boyish enthusiasm. Peace be with you, dear cousin
