Barry Pearson Obituary

May 10, 1941 - January 4, 2025

Barry Neil Pearson, beloved husband, father, uncle, "Grandpa", and friend passed away on January 4, 2025 at the age of 83 in Alexandria, VA.

Barry was born in Easton, PA. He graduated from Temple University and served in the Vietnam War with the US Navy. He left active service as a Lieutenant and continued his career as a civil servant, spending the rest of his career with Naval Supply Systems Command under the US Department of Defense. He was active in his community civic association, and he was a local sports supporter, whether they were sports played by his children or not. In retirement, he found joy and fulfillment in travel, birding, going on long walks in the hopes of petting other peoples' dogs, and spending time among good friends and family, often trying new recipes for his neighborhood dinner club.

Barry is survived by his daughter Amy Copeland (David Copeland), son Greg Pearson (Julia Saladino), two grandchildren who he adored, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Connie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Barry donated to many charities throughout his life, and he would be honored to have donations made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.

I wasn´t privileged to know Barry until late in his life when his daughter Amy brought him to join the Monday morning bird group for their walk through Huntley Meadows. He quietly enjoyed the birds and wildlife along the way and our breakfast afterwards At Denny´s. I could see he was a kind and gentle man. Amy contributed much to the group which he had been an active part of for years. Peace to his memory.
