Professor BARRY RUBIN  
On Monday, February 3, 2014 of Washington, DC, Professor Barry Rubin, husband, father, historian, political analyst, and mentor. Washington, DC native Professor Barry Rubin was founder of and served as director of the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya for nearly two decades. He was also columnist at the Jerusalem Post, Middle East editor and featured columnist at PJ Media, editor and publisher of the Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA) Journal, and editor of Turkish Studies. He received his Ph.D. from Georgetown University in 1978. He taught both in the United States, and internationally, including American University, Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, Georgetown University, Bar-Ilan University, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, and Monash University. He was a Fulbright, Council on Foreign Relations Fellow; a Washington Institute for Near East Policy fellow; and a U.S. Institute of Peace and Hebrew University Leonard Davis Center grantee. Prof. Rubin authored and edited close to 100 books-three of which will be published posthumously-and tens of thousands of articles. Executive Director of the Washington Institute Dr. Robert Satloff, commented, "His death is a loss to the broader community of Middle East scholars."He is survived by wife Judith Colp Rubin and their children Gabriella and Daniel. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
